Is Suyash Prabhudessai the solution to RCB’s mid-range problems this season?

The Royal Challengers Bangalore batting line-up has once again become the talk of the town. The franchise have tried different combinations and batting orders in this edition of the Indian Premier League, but the overreliance on Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell continues.

In the absence of Rajat Patidar, who did a good job last season, the RCB mid-range looks fragile. They have already tried Mahipal Lomror, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik and Michael Bracewell at number three but nothing has really worked for them and now they need someone who can provide stability.

To remedy this situation, the team may well seek to promote someone like Suyash Prabhudessai. The hard-hitting right-hander plays most of his cricket for Goa in the middle order and bats at No.3 for the Ranji Trophy. In an exclusive chat with News18 CricketNext, Goa manager Mansur Ali Khan said his ward has the game to play as a floater in any team.

“There are two things now. In the red ball format, he was at bat at number three, while in the white ball he played in the middle order. He is a very good hitter and a very hardworking boy. He can play as a floater for any team and can hit any number. He trained that way,” Mansur said.

The coach added that Suyash has a full game with plenty of shots to keep bowlers guessing.

“Plus, he’s got a lot of hits in his armor. It can play scoop, sweep, reverse sweep, reverse scoop. He trained very well for the white ball (format), ”he added.

When asked if Suyash could beat at number three for RCB in the current scenario, Mansur insisted he was someone more suited to play at number four or five.

“Speaking of RCB in the current scenario, I guess with Virat (Kohli) and Faf du Plessis, the team can go for Glenn Maxwell at number three, for the simple reason that they can handle the pressure. But Suyash, I would prefer him to beat at number 4 or 5. He takes a little while in the beginning. He would take singles and doubles at the start of innings and once he’s had some time in the middle he can go get his shots,” he said.

“Bats for Hours and Hours”

Mansur became a big fan of Suyash’s work ethic when he joined the Goa team and said the right-hander trained very hard and kept hitting for hours against the bowling machine at home .

“He is a very hard working lad, as I said. He trains really hard. In fact, he has a bowling alley at his house. He beats for hours and hours,” Mansur added while speaking. preparations for Prabhudessai.

The Goa coach also praised the youngster for his fitness and work ethic and said: “In terms of fitness and his eating habits, he is very particular on that front as well. He is a disciplined boy.

Asked if Prabhudessai is also a practical bowler, Mansur quickly answered in the affirmative.

“Yeah, he also plays bowls. In fact, I was surprised because RCB didn’t give him the ball. I thought he would play one or two here and there. In fact, last year he won us a game with the ball against UP. He played last and defended 10 points. It’s a good prospect,” he said.

Mansur believes the versatile player has the game and work ethic to take the next step in white-ball cricket.

“When I saw him with his fitness program, his work ethic, I told him that in one or two years you should make it into the Indian team in terms of the white ball,” concluded Mansur.
