Kumar Sangakkara says Yashasvi Jaiswal is very hardworking and well prepared in the net before every game.

Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara has praised young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal after lashing out at Mumbai Indians bowlers on Sunday and slamming his first century IPL. Jaiswal showed his class on his home cricket ground and scored 124 from 62 to propel the Royals to a whopping 212/7. He was in complete control throughout the innings and hit the boundaries at regular intervals to pressure the opponent.

The southpaw scored 41 carries on 23 balls in the power play and amassed 44 carries on 25 balls in the middle, before hitting 39 carries on 14 balls in the deathmatch to reach the triple digit mark.

The Royals head coach says Jaiswal is very hardworking and well prepared in the net before every game.

“He’s not only extremely talented, but also very hardworking. He spent a lot of time in the preparations, a lot of time in the nets working on his preparations. He worked on his game for three to four years with us. and it shows that he is very focused and motivated and the results show,” Sangakkara said in the post-match press conference.

“He played beautifully today. He beat almost entirely through the innings, which was exceptional. He set us up for a fantastic total. Yash has a long way to go, not just with us, but outside. on an international scale. He just needs to keep working hard, keep producing races and knocking on that door. The great thing about Yash is that he’s learning and continuing to learn very quickly. He has a great attitude. He’s very positive in everything he does,” he added.

However, Jaiswal’s stunt was in vain as Mumbai Indians won the thriller in the final to outclass Rajasthan Royals. Responding to Jaiswal’s ton Suryakumar Yadav (55 of 29), Cameron Green (44 of 26) laid the foundation for a crucial win, while it was Tim David (45 of 14) who provided a finish hitting three sixes in a row with 17 needed on the final over helped MI chase down the massive target with three balls to spare.

Speaking on the result of the match, RR’s head coach admitted David was too good for the Royals bowlers while praising Suryakumar and Green for setting the tone for the highest chase on the site.

“We did a good total. 212 (213) is not an easy hunt. We could have been a little more disciplined in our power play bowling, but the way they hit and how Tim David finished at the end, the way Suryakumar Yadav hit in the middle and Cameron Green as well. They showed a lot of intention,” Sangakkara said.

“We had to defend 17 in the last over, which is a lot of points. But Tim David was just too good for us that day.”

The Royals will next face Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 5 while Mumbai will face Punjab Kings on May 3 at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
