Rohit, buoyed by his team’s victory, was in particularly good spirits and joked about his age with the pundit during the post-match ceremony.

May 30 was special for Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma for a host of reasons as his beloved IPL team secured victory over Rajasthan Royals on the star batsman’s 36th birthday.

It was also his 150th game as captain in the IPL and his 190th game in Mumbai colours, as noted by cricket pundit Harsha Bhogle during the post-match presentation.

Rohit, buoyed by his team’s victory, was in particularly good spirits and joked about his age with the pundit during the post-match ceremony.

Bhogle welcomed Rohit to the center “It was a great day for Rohit Sharma. Rohit, come on, everything happened for you today. 150th game as captain, 190th for MI and 36th birthday.”

Rohit quickly joked, “35th, not 36th.”

Bhogle, who fell in love with the opener, said with utmost sincerity: “Ah, they gave me one more. Good correction.”

After which, Rohit revealed that he was joking and that Bhogle had actually reached his age at 36.

Bhogle, in trademark fashion, replied “When you get to my age, it doesn’t matter”.

The light-hearted moment followed an emphatic win by the Mumbai Indians as they successfully chased down the 213 run target set by RR, who won the coin toss and opted to strike first.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant ton for the Rajasthan team to take their tally to 212. Mumbai Indians bowler Arshad Khan notched three wickets during his spell and was the highest wicket taker of the night.

MI lost Rohit to a controversial decision in the second heat of the chase, but Ishan Kishan and Australian Cameron Green steered MI’s heats in a positive direction after the skipper was unluckily dismissed.

Suryakumar Yadav struck well to get his half a ton before Tilak Verma and a blitzkrieg from Tim David saw Mumbai over the finish line.
