Delhi Capitals sit bottom of points table with just two wins from eight matches

Delhi Capitals suffered a nine-point loss in a close encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. Chasing a goal of 198, the Delhi Capitals came close but trailed by nine points.

Speaking about the game, Mitchell Marsh, who put up a remarkable 4/27 all-around show with the ball and 63 runs on 39 balls with the bat, said: “It was very disappointing to lose that one. We always talk about small margins in T20 cricket and there were probably a few areas where we let ourselves down, but still proud of the group and a lot of confidence in the group.”

Speaking about his personal performance, the Australian all-rounder said: “I try to keep my bowling very simple. I am very clear about my role. I try to use the wicket to my advantage with my knives and slow balls. You always need a little luck in T20 cricket, especially with my role. But the great reward for a little hard work.”

“It was a great partnership with Phil. I beat the first time with him and I really enjoyed it. At times throughout this tournament so far we have lost early wickets so it was good for us to be able to build a platform but unfortunately we couldn’t get ourselves across the line . But, being able to contribute with the bat was very nice and hopefully I can contribute to some more wins,” added Marsh, who has a strong 112-run partnership with Phil Salt.

Reflecting on the whole campaign so far, Marsh said, “It’s been very difficult. I think everyone shares their disappointment with how things haven’t gone our way so far. But we have a lot of young lads who are gaining valuable experience playing at this level which will also keep Delhi in good stead for the future.”
