Devon Conway missed his century but scored 92 and broke his fifth IPL 2023 half century and was hailed by CSK fans on social media

Devon Conway continues to improve with each passing game for Chennai Super Kings, the fly-half is not only CSK’s top scorer with 414 points in IPL 2023 but it is his consistency that has impressed fans, d especially after the opener broke 92 runs from just 52 balls.

It was a crucial shot, combined with MS Dhoni’s sublime two-six finish, ‘Thala’ sent the final two balls of the innings into the stands, taking Chennai to a 200/4 aggregate in their stipulated 20 overs against Punjab Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday April 30.

Conway lifted his fifth IPL 2023 fifty, just missed his century by just 8 points, and Dhoni wasn’t on strike, the New Zealand hitter may have had his ton, but he wouldn’t mind too much since that CSK was able to finish strongly with two last six balls form their talismanic captain MS Dhoni.

Yellow Army fans raved about Conway after his sublime stunt against the Punjab Kings which included 16 limits and six solitaries. Although he couldn’t complete his century, he became CSK’s first hitter to break the 400 run mark in the 2023 IPL season.

Earlier, MS Dhoni had won the toss and opted to bat first, after which Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad assembled a sensational 86-point opening stand. While Gaikwad left after scoring 37 points, Shivam Dube joined Conway and scored 28 himself, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali scored 12 and 10 points respectively but Dhoni crushed 13 in just 4 balls to help CSK to reach 200.

“100% man,” Conway said when asked if he had any regrets after missing his century. He also praised the atmosphere when Dhoni broke the two straight sixes.

“It was pretty special to be there after the two MS sixes when they went over the rope,” added the CSK opener.
