Vikram opened up about his chemistry with Aishwarya Rai in PS-2.
PS-2 star Chiyaan Vikram spoke candidly about the palpable on-screen chemistry with Aishwarya Rai in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus.
Mani Ratnam’s highly anticipated historical epic drama Ponniyin Selvan 2, directed by Mani Ratnam, hit theaters on April 28 and made an impressive Rs 38 crore on its opening day at the box office. The film was critically acclaimed and received a positive response from audiences. Not only that, fans particularly loved Chiyaan Vikram’s Aaditha Karikalan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Nandini’s endearing chemistry. Now the Southern superstar who once played a love interest for Aishwarya in Raavan has opened up about the on-screen bond with the actress.
Speaking to Zoom Entertainment, Vikram explained, “It’s very interesting because in Raavan, we can’t be with each other. Even in PS 1 I was just there in one scene, it was barely a glimpse of her and me together. And again in part two, I don’t know how many scenes we’ve been together for.”
He also added, “I think the love and romance between the two (characters) is so strong that the audience wants them to meet. That’s why they go back to Raavan. But again to Raavan, we don’t get together and that works in our favor I think.”
The long-awaited second installment of the historical drama Ponniyin Selvan, based on the novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy, has finally hit theaters. Directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Lyca Productions, the star-studded cast includes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The first part of the film was released in September 2022 in five different languages, and it collected a whopping Rs 500 crore globally. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is expected to gross at least Rs 1000 crore at the box office. Despite tough competition with Vikram Vedha, the first part received positive reviews from critics and audiences.
Earlier this week, Vikram and Aishwarya took to social media to share a photo of themselves together. Vikram’s post on Twitter read, “Hey Fate. Time to give them a better hand, don’t you think? ! Veera X Ragini / Aditha Karikalan X Nandini #ravanan #ps2.”
Vikram previously mentioned while promoting the film that he shares a great relationship with Aishwarya both on and off screen.
